Amadeus Press has filled a underserved niche in the classical music literature with these marvelous little guides to the great composers and their greatest compositions. They fill the gap between the highly detailed, scholarly volumes of the lives of the great composers … and the too-superficial tiny guides that offer too little program notes on the music or the composer. It gives you a compelling “play-by-play” description of each composition without venturing into musicology that would lose a beginner. The entire series is extremely well written and make a great guides to new discoveries. It should appeal to beginners as well as classical veterans alike. This Chopin volume is proving to be a valuable guide as I explore in depth Chopin’s music and the great performances on disc.
Every major category is covered in satisfying depth to give you solid understanding of what is behind each work – and what in particular is historically and musically significant in them. ALl major works are covered: the lilting Waltzes .. the pensive and sometimes turbulent Nocturnes … the weighty Sonatas, Scherzos and Ballades … the delicate miniatures … the amazing early piano concertos … the showpieces, Etudes, Preludes and even the few chamber pieces of Chopin are explored to reveal many curious historic details.
This volume on Chopin makes for compelling reading and is one of the only modern volumes of program notes on the piano music of Chopin I could find. The number of works covered is large and satisfying with enough detail to give you a deep appreciation of the significance, musical structures and impact of each work. In a way, it reads much like program notes in a CD, but covering the entire range of Chopin’s life and works. Other reviews below outline the range covered. I used to have an older hoover but the hoses went on it. This one is not nearly as heavy as the old hoover carpet cleaner. However, it does a very good job cleaning the carpets. Definitely better than the older hoover I had. I can see the difference right after I did the job.

This is an incredible tool. I was doubtful that it could perform well enough to justify the price (I had seen it at my vet’s priced at $49). When I saw it at this price I decided to try it. It is worth the money. I LOVE it – and so does my dog.

Tengo el lector desde hará cosa de un mes y, pese a que no he tenido demasiado tiempo para usarlo, tengo que decir que estoy muy satisfecho con él. Desde luego que ha cumplido todas mis espectativas y estoy seguro que voy a leer mucho más que antes. A destacar su sencillez de uso, su claridad, disponibilidad de libros (aunque espero que aumente todavía más, sobretodo en español) y comodidad.

7/11/2010 When I received this in the beginning of June 2010, I was really impressed at how accurate it was and its consistency of giving me identical weights. I’m on the Livestrong weight loss program and weigh myself weekly. I had unsucessfully tried a digital scale several years ago & figured the mfgrs should have greatly improved digital scales on today’s market. Today I stepped on it and the numbers kept cycling & cycling, never really stopping. They would cycle irratically, never consistently up or down but sporadically, ending with 2-6 lbs showing on the display even though I had stepped off.
I changed the batteries, vacuumed the “feet,” retried again & again; the results were always the sporadic, continually cycling numbers ending with a couple of pounds still showing on the display before it turned itself off. I’m really disappointed. I really did like this scale. I would have liked it to work much longer than six weeks!

7/15/2010 As others have noted, this company’s customer service is OUTSTANDING. I posted the above comments on 7/11. On 7/12 I rec’d a nice email from the company and the new scale was shipped on the same day. On 7/14 I rec’d it. As of today it works perfectly and I am once more in love with it. I’m withholding final review until I see if this new one lasts longer than 6 weeks. I’m both optimistic and hopeful! BTW, in both cases the company’s shipping is also OUTSTANDING! Both scales were ordered & rec’d within 2-3 days!

Listener s Bible NIV
I had heard this was a good book. I was misinformed. This was the most crude, foul book I have ever attempted to read. Though the main story was mildly interesting, the all too frequent use of profanity and descriptions of intimate relations put me off entirely. I started trying to use white out to cover the offensive items. I quickly realized that would include a great deal of the book. I decided I didn’t want to fill my mind with such things and stopped reading. This book went directly into the recycle bin rather than being donated to a thrift store. I didn’t want another unwitting person to go through the same experience I did.
