I was optimistic, and I wasn’t let down! My only complaint was that the story was too short, I couldn’t wait to see what Artemis would be up to next. I would not compare this to Harry Potter. This story stands on its own, with plenty of installments to keep you reading and waiting on the next adventure. Always full of surpises, written very well.

I have to admit I enjoyed this book – the settings were very interesting, and the main character, Jacob, was very likable.
However, I was incredibly disappointed by the love story that takes center stage. If you’re looking for a book with a female lead you can root for, this is DEFINITELY not it. Marlena is the main star of the equestrian act and loves horses and for that – and that alone – you are supposed to love her.
The two of them – Jacob and Marlena – bond over their shared passion for animals (he’s the circus vet) and hiding from her crazy husband, but there is no real spark between them to latch onto as a reader, and their whole relationship leaves something to be desired. Actual chemistry, maybe?
In addition to that, the storyline is often incredibly contrived, to a point where by the end I couldn’t bring myself to buy into any of it anymore.
An amusing read, just the same, but I didn’t find it to be all it was cracked up to be.

I don’t want to waste anymore of my life on this book so my review will be brief. I do not understand the popularity of this book. It is poorly written. The characters and relationships portrayed are shallow, unhealthy, and annoying. The dialogue is insipid and embarrassing. I’m genuinely surprised that I suffered through to the end of it. There are SO many books that are more worthy.

I purchased a book which was listed “new condition”. The book had stains all over the cover and there were many, many hi-lited areas in red marker throughout the book. I’m very disappointed!
A poem Columbus
I have a healthometer upright scale but wanted a portable scale to take on a road-trip. This scale is lovely to look at, accurate, easy to read, backlit, and travel-ready (for car trips). I am very pleased. Works on all surfaces.
Light My Fire Groove
Well…what can I say? Card worked well for a few months when I first bought it in 2008 while I was abroad. When I tried to read pics from it in 2009, my laptop’s card reader and Sandisk’s external card reader couldn’t read it. I even tried inserting it into my brother’s desktop reader. No luck.
RMA’ed it with the lifetime warranty, spent a few $ shipping it to them, got a prompt response and RMA replacement. It’s a few months later from that time and the card is unable to be read–again.
Seriously? I’d stick with a name-brand SD card from Sandisk.
You’re hearing this from someone who rarely hands out 1-star reviews.

The prodcut is a good unit for the price and this is my second unit in the past 5 years. HOWEVER…the shipping and delivey are much to be desired for, delived to wrong address, had to change travel plans for 2nd delivery on a Saturday (what a mess). Don’t think I am going to use UPS anymore tired of the excuses and hassle of not on time. missing deliveries.
